Panublix Ushers Hablon Weaves in the #NewNormal Digital Economy

Panublix, a tech-style startup in Iloilo that aims to connect Philippine textile producers with the fashion and design market, joins the 13th Indigenous Fiber Fashion Fair of the Iloilo Province.

The Office of Culture, Arts, History and Tourism with DOT VI, the organizer of this annual event sees the opportunity as a marketing thrust for new design patterns and color schemes, revival of traditional hand-loom patterns that can hit the global market and gains will be more for our weaving communities.

Iloilo has the potential to emerge as a major destination for hand-loom and hand-woven textiles and apparels as well as other niche products. Iloilo produces some of the country’s finest Hablon and Patadyong with well-established and professional clusters and a longstanding tradition of hand-loom weaving.

This year, our local designers will be adding plain, embroidered or embellished hablon and patadyong face-masks as special feature to create awareness on the proper protocol to combat COVID-19.

We will be mounting hablon designs on mannequins and will feature the hand loom produced of the participating towns.

The trade fair and exhibit will run from September 14 (Monday) until the 20th (Sunday). The fashion show will run on September 18 (Friday) featuring Paul Conte, Jeff Ticao and Binky Pitogo, September 19 (Saturday) will feature Frietz Von Pamplona, Fritz Caancan, Reuvien Palmes and John Montinola. September 20 (Sunday) will feature Kevin Hiballes, Matt Yeu and Jun-G Candelario.

The promotion of local culture and heritage is always central to the tourism thrust of the Iloilo Provincial Government. Our culture and heritage always brings our people together with great pride as Ilonggos.

This event is presented by the Office of Culture, Arts, History and Tourism, Province of Iloilo, Department of Tourism VI and SM City Iloilo. And in partnership with the Municipalities of Oton, Badiangan, Miagao and Dueñas, together with Iloilo Models Guild, Kultura uniquely Filipino, Panublix, Daily Guardian and Mr. John Montinola.
